They both had been convicted to terms of prison due to involvement in anti-government protests in Tehran following 2009 presidential elections.
Sotoudeh was freed from jail in September after serving three years of an 11-year sentence and handed a 20-year ban from practising law for “acting against national security and propaganda against the regime”.
Sotoudeh was released from jail with a nearly dozen other political prisoners in September, part of a charm offensive by new President Hassan Rouhani.
Panahi was detained for a documentary he tried to make on the 2009 unrest and was banned from making more films for 20 years.

According to the Iranian foreign ministry Website, the Greek charge d` affairs was summoned and was told that Iran is dissatisfied with the EU parliamentary delegation move.
The charge d` affairs was also told that Tehran sees the act as “contrary to goodwill” and that Iranian Embassy in Brussels had warned the European delegation about such a meeting prior to their visit to Tehran.
Earlier some Iranian MPs criticized the foreign ministry for the meeting, asking the ministry to explain over EU Parliamentarians trip to Iran.
