Endless Strikes by Greek University Employees

Chaos at Universities of AthensTwo more 24-hour strikes were announced by the University of Athens administrative employees association, after a very tense general meeting held today.
However, it appears that this endless cycle of strikes will come to an end this week and that courses will begin again on the 16th of December, as requested by the Senate.
Of those present at the administrative employees association general meeting, 220 voted in favor of the proposal to continue with the strike, with 90 voting for the proposal to allow courses to begin.
But the members of the majority center-left party of the Association Board departed the meeting, and a motion for impeachment was made against them. This was put forward by the representatives of the party affiliated with SYRIZA, who have requested an end to the protests and continued dialogue with the Ministry of Education on the commitments made by the Greek Minister of Education, Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos. The motion will probably be discussed tomorrow.
Tomorrow in Thessaloniki, a summit for all University Rectors will be held, in order for the situation to be discussed.
