Parents Honor International Day of People with Disability

INTERNATIONAL-DAY-OF-PEOPLE-WITH-DISABILITIESOn Tuesday morning, the parents and guardians of people with disabilities gathered at Korai Square in central Athens, in order to protest for cuts on the wages of people with special needs in Greece. It was fitting that they chose Tuesday to do this, since the 3rd of December is the International Day of People with Disability.
The protesters are asking for more funds in order to establish schools and educational programs for children with disabilities. Furthermore, they are requesting an increase in disability benefits and cheaper medicine.
The International day of People with Disabilities is an international awareness event promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim is to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
