Fyssas Family Angry with PASOK’s Poster

fyssas-family-reactions-pasokThe poster of PASOK’s youth division using the image of Pavlos Fyssas, caused a strong reaction from the Fyssas family. Pavlos Fyssas was the young man who was killed by George Roupakias, a Golden Dawn member.
The poster also depicts photographs of Grigoris Lamprakis, Sotiris Petroulas and Nikos Temponeras. It was created for the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Athens Polytechnic uprising which took place in 1973, collapsing the seven-year dictatorship in Greece.
Giorgos Marangos, the lawyer of the Fyssas family, said that it was inappropriate to use his photo and accused the PASOK youth party of using it illegally: “this caused us surprise, anger and indignation. Fyssas did not belong to their party to put him on their posters. He was not a part of their politics and furthermore, he was deeply against the bailouts.”
On the other hand, the PASOK youth division stated that now Pavlos Fyssas symbolizes the fight for democracy and according to them, “symbols belong to the people.” Only the MP Panagiotis Rigas was against using Pavlos Fyssas’ photo in their poster.
