Greek University Students Anxious About their Future

6A7D2DE5140F2E77E9ABF189269C0413The concern European University students have about their future is obvious, as almost one in two students say that they are ready to move abroad in order to find better job opportunities. Greeks are the most anxious students in Europe about their professional future. They believe that they might be able to find their first job, after six or ten months, after sending 36-65 applications.

Those are the results of research that was conducted by trendence Graduate Barometer 2013 with the participation of 1,057 universities from 27 countries all over Europe. From the 317,617 participants, some 5,209 were Greek students.  In this research that is conducted annually, students express their opinion and thoughts about their studies and what their future expectations are. Students are asked to complete an online questionnaire and their participation gives them the opportunity to win one of the following awards:
-5 Amazon vouchers worth 500 Euros each
-10 Amazon vouchers worth 200 Euros each
Among the Universities participating in the research is the University of Macedonia.
Documented in the survey was also the great concern of  European youth about their future. In detail, 55.9 percent of European students stated they were anxious about their future. Greek students seem to be the most concerned about their future due to the high levels of unemployment and to the great economic recession that Greece suffers from today. Greek university students believe that they will have to wait for a long time before they get their first job after having graduated. In addition, the research showed that Greek students seem to be more willing to immigrate in order to find better job opportunities, than any other European student.
