A consulting firm with almost zero turnover was used as a “shell” by Greek Americans in order to eavesdrop on our country. The interceptions continued after 2005, when revealed. A young man appeared as the representative of the company, but behind him there were three Greek -Americans, who were providing information to the NSA, the U.S. secret service with its headquarters in Maryland.
According to the newspaper Realnews, four mobile phones had been bought with the TIN of the company. Three of them were used for the first interceptions, during 2004-2005. However, when the case was revealed by the then Ministers of Public Order, Justice and State they were deactivated. Two months later when the fourth mobile was activated, the interceptions started again, and the “company” was eavesdropping on Costas Karamanlis and other persons.
The interceptions continued at least until 2007 , which seems to have been the big mistake of the interceptors. The Greek authorities identified them and EYP, the National Intelligence Service began monitoring this phone, after which they found that the Greek Americans were communicating with Maryland. Specifically, in one of the first calls made after the activation of the “spare” mobile phone, the interceptor from Greece was taking instructions from his superiors. The Greek Authorities, who had tapped the phone, began to record their discussions.
