Karchimakis: Instigating Act of Infringement of State Secrets

Michalis-Karchimakis-prosecutedMichalis Karchimakis, former representative of PASOK is called to plead on November 8th, in front of the 3rd magistrate, Dimitris Foukas who handles the case of interceptions and of the alleged plan to assassinate former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis.
Mr. Karchimakis, according to Mega Channel, will plead for instigating the criminal act of infringement of State secrets.
A snap check at the home and office of Mr. Karchimakis brought to light classified documents with dates mainly from 2005 to 2007. These documents were marked as “security level” and seem to have been given to Mr. Karchimakis by a former employee of NIS.
According to capital.gr the prosecution against the former minister started after a report was given to the NIS in April 2013 in which the signatory states that in 2005 Mr. Kacrhimakis in a meeting with unionists of NIS, addressed one of them saying: “It’s been a while since you brought me more of those nice papers”
After merging the proceedings in the case of telephone interception and the alleged plan to murder Kostas Karamanlis, the 3rd magistrate Dimitris Foukas will proceed to a new request of legal assistance as new evidence emerged after a very important testimony.
Reportedly, a witness appeared before the magistrate giving information about a foreigner who was in Greece from 1997 to 2010 under a different identity. As it was stated, he organized the taping system using an alias.
The names of the suspects became public and new data shows that they are mentioned in interceptions, even this last year.
