A 63-year old woman is estimated to have put over 105,000 into her account, money of which was collected over 30 years of illegally receiving her dead husband’s pension………even though she was remarried.
As it became known, the widow after her husband died in 1980, remarried in 1984, but kept it secret from IKA in order to keep on receiving the pension, for which she no longer was entitled to.
The woman was arrested in the act at a branch of IKA (Social Security Foundation), in the area of Athens.
The foundation stated that there are around 70 other cases similar to this one, that have been found nationwide.
