‘Before Midnight’ Gets Gotham Awards Best Feature Nomination

BeforeMidnightIndie darling “Before Midnight,” which was shot on-location in Greece, has received a Best Feature nomination for the 23rd annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. Director Richard Linklater and producers Christos V. Konstantakopoulos, Sara Woodhatch and Sony Pictures Classics are all nominated and will take home the Award should the film win at this year’s ceremony.

Directed by Richard Linklater and starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, the film picks up nine years after “Before Sunset” left off. “Before Midnight” begins with Jesse (Hawke) dropping his son, Hank, off at the airport in Kalamata. As Hank heads home to Chicago to be with his mother (and Jesse’s now ex-wife), Jesse struggles with finding a way to maintain a relationship with his teenage son. Meanwhile, Jesse and Celine (Delpy), who are parents to twins, are also dealing with their own feelings and emotions towards each other.

Aside from Greece setting the stage for the continuation of the 18-year love story that began with “Before Sunrise,” “Before Midnight” also had a predominantly Greek cast and crew.

In addition to his nomination, Linklater will be the recipient of a special tribute at the Gotham Awards ceremony, which is set to be held Dec. 2 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
