Survey: Greeks are the Least Happy Europeans

crisisA survey conducted on behalf of Deutsche Post and published by business magazine Wirtschaftswoche, concerns the happiness scale of European people. The least happy people in Europe are Greeks in contrast to the Danes, who are considered the happiest according to this survey.

German scientists Rafelchousen and Kecher indicated on annual study “Atlas of Happiness” that gap between Europeans widens in terms of happiness.

They underlined that difference between European countries is bigger than the first survey held in 2002. For example, the difference between Greece and Denmark used to be to 3.4 points. But nowadays the difference has been expanded to 5.5 points.

Moreover, 3,000 Europeans participate in this survey annually. They answer questions about their personal situation and evaluate it themselves, on a scale from 0 points (very disappointed) to 10 points (very happy). In 2007, Greece scored 5.7 points whereas currently it has dropped to 3.4.

The situation is similar in other countries suffering from the crisis, where the degree of “happiness” dropped sharply. In contrast, during the same period there was an increase in the degree of “happiness” for the population of Baltic countries.
