Audit: SDEO in Golden Dawn’s Central Offices

xrysiavgi_grafeia1_533_355The prosecutor ordered an audit to be performed at the central offices of the Golden Dawn party.  The Financial and Economic Crime Unit (S.D.O.E) will do a thorough check on the books, the funding, and the expenses of the Greek far-right party.
The recent happenings concerning Golden Dawn are the reason for these audits. According to the key witness, “two important Greek ship-owners” finance the Neo-Nazi party; he didn’t reveal any names since he stated he wasn’t sure of their identities.
It’s the first time in the period following the fall of Greek dictatorship in 1974 where a party of the Greek Parliament is audited by the Ministry of Finance; according to their sources, SDOE must perform a detailed search in order to reveal the economic crimes of Golden Dawn. It was also mentioned that there have been similar checks in the past, such as the case of a hotel located in the center of Athens, belonging to MP Nikos Michaloliakos and his wife Eleni Zaroulia, also an MP of Golden Dawn party.
Until now it is known that the Greek State financed the far-right party, giving the party almost 500.000 Euros. A total of 200.000 euros must be added, which comes from the deduction of the MPs salary imposed by their leader, Nikos Michaloliakos. Although the expenses are higher than 700.000 euros, the SDOE has to find Golden Dawn’s economic supporters.
