Ottawa Hosts Conference Day to Promote Greek-Speaking Education

educationA “conference day” on Greek-speaking education will take place in Ottawa, on Saturday the 19th of October. It will be organized by the Greek Embassy in Canada, in cooperation with the Office of the School Counselor of Canada and the Midwestern U.S; the Education Office of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Canada, and the Greek Community of Ottawa.

The main subject of the conference day is to strategize the promotion of Greek education. Bodies from all the levels of Greek-speaking education will participate.

The purpose of the event, is the development of programs and strategies that will enhance the Greek education in Canada regarding the Greek language, history, culture, religion; inviting more students in the Greek education, as well as the promotion of the cooperation between the educational institutes in Greece and Canada.

Eleftherios Angelopoulos, the Greek ambassador of Canada, stressed that Greek education is a top priority for the Greek-Canadian community, stating that the purpose of the conference is targeting development and promotion in Canada.

The conference will involve many speeches by the Consulate General Dimitris Azemopoulos (Toronto), Thanos Kafopoulos (Montreal), Ilias Kremmydas (Vancouver) and Iakovos Giragosian (Consulate General of Cyprus to Toronto).
