Miranta Oikonomidou Passed Away

At the age of 93 the great actress Miranta Oikonimidou passed away. She was one of the founder members of the National Theater of Northern Greece.
Born in 1920 in Athens, she studied at the Drama School of the National Theater of Greece. Her first performance was in 1943’s National Opera show A night in Venice, followed by her appearance in the National Theater in Moliere’s plays Monsieur de Pourceaugnac, and Tartuffe.
She went to Paris for studies after receiving a scholarship from the French state. She was at the National Theater of Greece till 1954. In 1963 she started playing for the National Theater of Northern Greece and participated in 51 performances. She was married with the actor Alekos Petsos.
