Tsipras Disputes Report His Phone Tapped

T-_tsipras_alexis1_608387912The leader of the major opposition party Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA,) Alexis Tsipras, has said a report that he told his party’s lawmakers during a meeting with them that he believes the government is listening on his telephone calls and has tapped it unlawfully was false.
The allegation was reported by RealNews which cited a report on the conference of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA.  During the meeting, it said,  Tsipras made the revelation that the secret services of the country, NIS, had tapped his phone as well as the phones of the other MPs of Koumoundourou.
“Comrades be careful. Our phones are being monitored. Mine and yours too,” he reportedly said, addressing to the MPs of his political party, stirring political turmoil.
The Greek Minister of Public Order, Nikos Dendias, reacted quickly and called Tsipras to refute the allegation and urged him to file a formal complaint instead of just talking about it, the report added.
“We ask Mr.Tsipras either to deny immediately this allegation or to submit a criminal complaint. Otherwise he remains accountable to the State,” Dendias was alleged to have said in his statement.
SYRIZA said that the report cited in Real news newspaper was untrue. “The report of Real News has nothing to do with reality,” SYRIZA’s statement said and continued accusing the government’s spokesman and the Public Order Minister, Dendias, of not having the same quick response with complaints against Golden Dawn.
