Persephone’s Ancient Myth Now in English

xorodiaA new children’s book-CD with the title Time For Flowers, Time For Snow, in the form of a song that tells the story of the ancient Greek myth of Persephone was to be presented on Oct. 5 to an audience  in the Hall of Honour at Montreal City Hall.

The work will be sung by 183 elementary school students from Montreal, a choir under the direction of Dimitris Ilias and Maria Diamantis, who have many years experience at it.

All other books-CD they have made over the years were only in Greek, leaving out a substantial number of children, so this one was done in English so they could reach a broader audience who could read and enjoy Persephone’s wonderful story.

The story and the lyrics were written by Glen Huser from Vancouver, the illustration was made by Montreal Philippe Béha, and the narration by Monty Python’s Terry Jones.

A reporter for cbcnews stated: “I have to say it brought tears to my eyes because you scribble at your desk and write these words to lyrics — and to have all of these voices and the symphony orchestra, it’s humbling in a way.”
