Economic Sentiment Improved in September

greek-EU-flagsThe Economic Sentiment Index (ESI) in Greece posted a significant improvement in September, according to the European Commission, climbing from August’s 89.2 points to 93.1 point this month, approaching the highest level in the last couple of years – which was recorded in May (93.8 points).
The economic climate improved mainly in the construction sector and in industry, and to a lesser extent in consumer confidence. In contrast, a deterioration was recorded in the services sector and in retail commerce compared with August.
The Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs announced that an improvement has been recorded this month across the European Union, as the ESI rose above the crucial 100-point level to 100.6 points, while in the eurozone it reached 96.9 points, from 95.3 points in August.
