Αrvanitopoulos Demands College Firing List

arvanitopoulosGreek Minister of Education Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos sent a letter on Sept 30 to the deans of the universities in Greece asking for the names of the administrative employees that will be suspended that they have refused to supply, and in protest have closed the schools.
The minister, a few hours after the Conference of Deans demanded he in turn revoke the decision to fire university staff sent him a letter of defiance but were told they would be in breach of duty if they don’t submit.
The heads of the relevant departments have a similar letter in their hands as they have to communicate to the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP) the names he insisted upon or they could face charges.
The government is going ahead with plans to transfer, suspend or fire up to 40,000 public workers over the next two years on the orders of international lenders who are putting up $325 billion in two bailouts to keep the economy from imploding.
