Kazantzakis Tribute in Luxembourg

kazantzakisThe International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis is setting up a Coordination Committee in Luxembourg, consisting of Greek and Luxembourgian members who love the work of the great Greek writer and philosopher and want to promote it to the Grand Duchy.

This news was announced by the President of the society, George Stasinakis, in an event on Sept. 24 in Luxembourg, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Kazantzakis and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the group.

In the presence of the Greek Ambassador to Luxembourg, Theodore Georgakelos, teachers, pupils of the European School of Luxembourg and friends of the Greek writer, Stasinakis referred to the work and activities carried out by the society, which has more than 5,000 members in 119 countries worldwide promoting a number of events dedicated to Kazantzakis and his work.

At the Luxembourg affair, Yvette Renoux-Herbert, old friend and collaborator of Nikos Kazantzakis in UNESCO talked about him and Eleni Kazantzakis.

Athena Vougiouka, a specialist in the works of Kazantzakis, who is an author and translator, presented an analysis of the narrative characteristics of the project Life and Adventures of Alexis Zorbas, through the contrast of the two key figures of the project: the free, uneducated and passionate Zorbas and the intellectual “boss”, the narrator of the project.
