Things are turning out well lately for the young actress and singer Elena Charbila, also known by her artistic name, Kid Moxie. Working with pop singer Michael Buble was definitely a pleasant surprise.
“ My agent called and told me that people from Michael Buble’s production team wanted me to go to Canada to work with him. From what I found out later, the production team had seen my videos as Kid Moxie and they liked what they saw enough to book me for the job without going through an audition. So I was flown to Vancouver where I did three videos for his new album. The one song To love somebody, is the famous Bee Gees cover which is doing great so far, and the other two are remakes from other famous songs from the 50’s.” They also shot a commercial together, for American megastore Target which is now opening in Canada.
Elena recently finished doing some more voice-over work for the world-wide sensation video game Diablo that was recently released and broke all sales records.
“They wanted a girl who could do both an American but also foreign accents. I had to play three roles and I have to say that I enjoyed it just as much as a role in a movie because you are given the challenge of using your voice as your only means of expression.”
She also continues working in Greece where she had her latest lead role in the film EXI(s)T directed by young director Vangelis Zouglos that won the Audience Award prize at the Athens Digital Festival and took place at the Cacoyannis Foundation. The movie will also be screened at the Athens International Film Festival next week.
“It’s a very interesting movie about the price of being different inside a seemingly homogenous society. We completed the shootings a few months back in Greece.”
Her new single The Bailor has been released and is doing very well in charts in Italy and in other European countries, while it has been getting international blog buzz. This period she has been musically collaborating with the well known L.A based artist, the Gaslamp Killer with whom she has created a few songs for her new album as Kid Moxie and will be released later this year. Her new album will also include her collaboration with Angelo Badalamenti, which is a remake of the song Mysteries of Love from famous cult classic movie Blue Velvet. “I have been recently working with the David Lynch Foundation, a platform where both established and up-and-coming artists as part of its efforts in raising awareness about Transcendental Meditation.”
