IMF Envoy Leaves With A Bang

image.ashxThe head of the International Monetary Fund’s delegation to Athens, Bob Traa, reportedly gave a very loud going away party at his residence in Filothei, with neighbors complaining that the noise was as if there were rowdy college students having gun.
Proto Thema said he organized a wild night at his residence, keeping the whole neighborhood awake. The IMF, along with the European Union and European Central Bank make up the Troika of the EU-IMF-ECB putting up $325 billion in two bailouts to save the Greek economy but inspectors regularly check to see if austerity measures are being imposed.
The party – according to the publication – started around ten o’clock. Bank representatives as well as Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras were some among the tens of his celebrity guests.
The alcohol was abundant and the music was foreign and Greek pop (Laika). While Traa and his guests were having fun the neighbors said they weren’t and complained to the police about the disturbance.
Police said the noise would be reduced but at 2:30 a.m. it was still going on, neighbors claimed. ; however the neighbors didn’t have the same opinion and said that the authorities didn’t send anyone to quell the noise.
Some neighbors said they tried to go to the house directly to complain but were stopped by special security guards who advised them to call the police if they weren’t happy. Police were said to have arrived at 3:30 a.m., just as the party was ending.
