Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev met on Sept. 12 with Greek Deputy Minister for Development and Competition, Notis Mitarakis, to talk about plans to invest in the country’s growing tourism industry, which is setting a record this year.
According to capital.gr, it was the first time that the two men met with each other, after Mitarakis’ invitation towards the Russian tycoon for talks. A second meeting is going to be held as well.
“Greece is an interesting country for investment,” Rybolovlev’s spokesman said. It was also reported, but unconfirmed, that Rybolovlev also met with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.
Rybolovlev is the owner of Aristotle Onassis’s legendary island of Skorpios, sold for a reported $100 million by the late Greek tycoon’s daughter Athina Roussel.
