Six Greek Universities Among World's Top 800

tromaktikoAccording to the QS World University Rankings list for 2013 that was published by, six Greek universities are among the 800 top universities in the world.
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) ranks on the top of the Greek universities for the second consecutive year (position 471-480), while it presents a rise compared to its position in 2012 (451-500).
The University of Crete is the second best institution in the country and it ranked in the position 491-500, while the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical University (NTUA) followed (both in the position 501-550).
The University of Patras ranks in the position 601-650, while the Athens University of Economics and Business ranked in the position + 701.
As stated in a relevant announcement, to this year’s table have been added more than 100 universities, which reached 800 in total, with a representation of 76 countries. The ranking took into consideration the answers of 62,094 academics and 27,957 employers.
Eleni Bolou, marketing manager of QS, stressed that, “Despite the difficult economic situation of the country, the steady performance of Greece in this year’s table is good news for the country.”
“The performance of  Greek universities is very dynamic. They managed to keep the same good position as last year. The Greek economy is not perfect, investment in science is minimal and certainly the country cannot take a big part in global competition. However, the fact that universities stay strong shows that they work really hard to fulfill their mission.”
