The atmosphere in the education field is tense as higher education institutions close one after the other because of the imminent suspension of 1,600 employees by Sept. 20.
The university senate of the University of Athens decided to suspend the operation of the institution for a week, so that university employees can express their protest against the inclusion of university administrators in the suspension status.
“We express our concern,” the Rector of the Greek University, Theodosis Pelegrinis, said in the senate’s meeting.
The Assembly of TEI of West Attica decided to stop education and administration programs, as of Sept. 10.
