Kellogg’s company decided to launch its new Mediterranean cracker (a chickpea-based cracker with feta, basil and tomato flavors) from the beautiful Agia Kyriaki in Trikeri, on the Pelion peninsula in Greece, where the shooting of the promotional spot took place.

Kellogg’s chose the picturesque fishing village in Greek mainland after a long scouting in many Mediterranean ports. Although Trikeri is built on a hill, it is close to the sea and the small port of Agia Kyriaki which is located just below the village of Trikeri. According to the director Jason Baffa, Trikeri captures better than any other landscape the essence of the Mediterranean aesthetics that Kellogg’s had been searching to promote its new snack .
Baffa is a California-based filmmaker and the creator of the popular 16 mm films Singlefin: Yellow and One California Day. Scott Kassenoff, the director of Photography for the new Kellog’s commercial has also worked for many American TV series and short films. The shooting lasted an entire week and a crew of about 100 people took over the little village, filling up two whole taverns at lunch. For the shooting needs, the crew also used many boats and vessels of the kind-hearted Trikerians, among whom extras were selected to appear in the ad. The Trikerians embraced and welcomed the U.S. production company.
In such difficult times that Greece is struggling with a huge economic crisis, such a promotion and financial support was of great importance to this sleepy village.
Nowadays, Trikeri is an ideal place for tranquil vacations. It is worth walking through the cobbled streets, admire the architecture of the buildings and mansions in the neighborhood of Agioi Anargiroi as well as visiting the churches of Agios Athanasios and Agia Triada with their unique carved gilded iconostasis. Moreover, many tourists from Europe, America and Russia often make a stop at beautiful Trikeri to rest and eat at one of its taverns.
However, the American multinational company, for obvious reasons, is keeping the information on its new cracker a secret, as it is expected to be launched worldwide within the next season, having as an emblem the little known small port of Agia Kyriaki in Trikeri.
The Kellogg Co. has said that it is responding to consumers’ demand for snacking alternatives with the launch of fresh flavors, new ingredients and entirely new foods such as this new Mediterranean cracker..
