Fire Out of Control in Boeotia

D73CD9024A26FEEE66263BDE2D8898E1The big fire that broke out at 14:30 on August 28 in the forest area between Karakolithos and Tsoukalades near Livadeia (capital of the regional unit Boeotia) is taking alarming proportions.
The most worrying thing is that there are many small fronts, a fact that makes the work of extinguishing the fire more difficult.
The biggest and most dangerous fronts are the fire moving towards Chaeronea and the fire heading towards the region Agios Vlassis and a third one moving towards Livadeia, while at the same time dozens of smaller foci of fires are raging out of control, resulting in a thick cloud of smoke that has covered the sky in the region.
According to lamiastar.gr, the first estimates are that the front of the fire is six kilometers.
Earlier in the day the flames came very close to the village of Tsoukalades, passed through the yards of the houses and threatened Thoureio.
The positive thing is that so far no residencies are in danger, while according to the police, the wind blowing in the region is not strong.
In his statements the Regional Counselor George Ziogas stated that,“Since 3 o’ clock in the afternoon we have been experiencing an unprecedented situation concerning the smoke, as the fire has covered an area of more than 3,700 acres.”
There are sixty firefighters with thirty fire trucks and four helicopters in the region.
