The Greek coffee company Mikel was founded in Larisa, Greece in 2008 and now it operates 17 stores, most of them located in Northern Greece. Within 2013 it is intended that Mikel will expand to operate 30 stores.
Today, Mikel, has 240 employees and two franchise companies, namely MIKEL A.E and Georgia. The representative of Mikel, Christos Agnantis told GoodNews, “People are satisfied with us in every city we have our stores, because Mikel has its own unique identity.”
The Mikel company aims at better quality service for their customers and at eliminating unemployment with the number of its partners per coffee stores, officials said.
It is also notable that Greece’s fast food companies have prevailed among the foreign companies in the past and looks to do the same with foreign coffee competitors. Mikel’s coffee ranks first in Larisa, since the sales of espresso coffee in three out of the five stored located in Larisa came first compared to other coffee stores.
“Coffee is a necessity and may become an addiction sometimes. Our goal is not to be in fashion, but a need for the customers,” Agnantis said.
He said that Mikel coffee is highly socially conscious concerning its contribution to society. For this reason, MIKEL participates actively in social programs and the community. Every Mikel Coffee Store has adopted a child through a project called foster parent of the non profitable organization Action Aid.
“The motivation for the development of our company is the belief in our work,” Agnantis concluded. Here is a link to a radio interview, in Greek, he gave to Goodnews: http://www.athina984.gr/node/228418.
