A number of 74 young artists and educators from every corner of the planet, who are involved in arts, music, literature, photography, dance and fashion, and study in German and Greek universities, will visit the city of Veria, located in northern Greece, on August 19.
Young people, aged between 18 to 24 years old, will be hosted at the facilities of the Panagia Soumela Foundation until September 11, in the framework of the project FISIS-Crisis and creativity (Youth in Action), which is held in cooperation with Vereinigung fur Genreverbindende Kunstprojekte and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Berlin, Germany.
The project in question aims at the acquaintance of new artists from various countries in the world, as well as artistic creation during the activities. The young artists will go on excursions to Dion, Pella, Thessaloniki and Vergina and after drawing inspiration from nature, will present their works at an exhibition that will take place at the Old Courts of Veria.
“They are young people that study in Greek and German universities and come from every corner of the planet, among which are China and Colombia. It is a project funded by the European Community,” the director of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Berlin, Eleftherios Oikonomou, stated.
The same exhibition will be transferred to the Goethe Institute in Athens, to the Benaki Museum, to the town Assisse in Italy, as well as to Berlin (Hellenic Foundation for Culture).
The artists will be welcomed on August 20 by the Mayor of Veria, Charikleia Ousoultzoglou Georgiadi, who reported, “This project is for us a project of extroversion and of good cooperation with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Berlin. A unique chance is given to the city of Veria and its wider area in order to reveal part of its natural beauty to artists that will be inspired by it.”
The project will be held under the auspices of the German Embassy in Rome, the General Consulate of Germany in Thessaloniki and the Municipality of Veria.
