The adventurous Mars One mission has drawn six Greek hopefuls who said they’re ready to leave everything behind to serve humanity and want to win a one-way ticket to the Red Planet.
They are among 100,000 candidates who want to take part and go where no man has gone before. They told the newspaper Eleftheros Typos they have nothing more to see from the Earth and are ready to devote their life to the creation of a “second world.”
The Greek participants have posted personal videos on the official website of Mars One, in which they explain the reasons why they want to participate in the mission.
The 40 trainees around the world who will be selected will win a place on the spacecraft that will be launched in 2022 heading to Mars.
Mars One is a not-for-profit foundation that hopes to etablish a permanent human settlement on Mars in 2023. The Mars One mission plan integrates components that are well tested and readily available from industry leaders worldwide, its organizers said.
The first footprint on Mars and lives of the crew thereon will captivate and inspire generations; it is this public interest that will help finance his human mission to Mars, as reported in Mars One official website.
