Drug Trafficking Gang Found on Kalymnos

7BF6DEB6D89DE251CDD336D37C279697A multimember criminal gang was trafficking heroine and other drugs from Albania into the island of Kalymnos. During the organized operation, the police arrested 12 people, nine of whom are members of the gang, seized amounts of drugs, weapons and explosives and are still looking for one more person.
According to the police, three of the members are prison inmates from Greece, aged 48, 42 and 30. In cooperation with their accomplices, they allegedly trafficked into the island more than three kilos of cocaine. According to the police, the drugs were carried from Turkey to Greece by a foreigner and then shipped to the island on ferry boats.
Charges were filed against the detainees and against 15 more people, for the offenses of criminal organization, drug trafficking and possession of weapons.
During the investigations carried out in Thessaloniki, Athens and Kalymnos, the following were found and seized: 1.282,2 grams of heroin, 750 grams of marijuana, 60 grams of methadone, 116 pills, unknown crystalline powder weighing 7.9 grams, two electronic precision balances, one shotgun and 35 cartridges, four tear gas sprays, three packs of gunpowder of 994 grams, one Brass knuckles, 37 detonators, and 16 slow-burning wicks.
The detainees will be brought to the Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Athens.
