Theoharis Says 13% VAT on Food

hth_EChE8BqenOZc8aKgL“The VAT on food is 13% regardless of where it is consumed,” the Secretary of Public Revenue, Haris Theocharis, stated in his message on Twitter in response to reports in view of the application of the reduced rate on products and food services.
The confusion was caused by a circular of the Finance Ministry on how to apply the reduced VAT, which created the impression that VAT varies depending on whether the consumer sits down to eat or takes away.
With this message Theocharis denied the rumors of the limited application of the measure. However, he said, ‘The rate differs only in refreshments whether they are consumed or not at a restaurant.”
