Greece has begun to grant residence permits to foreigners who invest or buy Greece in property above a certain amount, with three having already been issued, and two others are pending, authorities said.
The news came from the Ministry of Development and Competitiveness following a meeting of Deputy Minister of Development and Competitiveness Notis Mitarakis with the Vice President of the Chinese Maslink Group, Li Hao, who told him that many Chinese citizens are interested in investing in real estate in Greece, in order to be granted a five-year residence permit.
For this reason the company prepares road shows in many cities in China with a large portfolio of real estate that is already available by the sellers, and the first transactions are expected very soon.
Mitarakis thanked Li Hao for the cooperation and pointed out that the Greek state has introduced a simple administrative procedure for the granting of residence permits, which allows the investor to complete the collection of the required documents in a very fast way.
The Chinese company MASLINK (http://www.maslink.com) is one of the three largest providers of immigration service in China and has branches in several countries of the world (Europe, America, Canada etc.).
Others seeking residence permits in Greece, including Greek-Americans and others in the Diaspora, have to meet more stringent requirements and get them renewed every six months.
