De Morgen: European Debt Crisis Will Return Harsher in Autumn

euroThe Flemish newspaper De Morgen wrote an article under the title “The EU is heading towards a hot autumn”, claiming that the European debt crisis will return harsher in autumn.

A special reference is done for Greece, which, “although has fulfilled the commitments it has undertaken at a satisfactory degree, it continues to be plagued by stratospheric debts and an extreme overvalued currency, recording as a result high percentages of unemployment and not being capable of escaping recession, without apparent improvement in the foreseeable future.”

The article notes about Cyprus that “the prospects are extremely gloomy, as the deep recession can derail the reform agenda and influence in a negative way the debt’s sustainability.”

The newspaper makes a special reference to the difficulties that France is facing, as well as to the day that Germans will have to choose the new Chancellor of Germany on September 22.

According to the newspaper, Spain and Italy constitute headache for the EU because of the political instability and the economic problems the two countries are encountering.

De Morgen supports that, despite the fact that the public opinion towards the rescue programs of the countries of Southern Europe is increasingly diminishing, the future seems to be bleak.
