E82E53923B00B1FCBB7165D5BB11FA72Manuscripts, working notebooks, rare photographs, film and sound material and paintings from the personal archives of Nobel Laureate poet Odysseus Elytis will be housed and exhibited in a building in Plaka, Athens.
The two floor building on the corner of Dioskouroi and Polygnotou roads will be called Elytis’ House and will include accurate representation of the office of the Greek poet and an exhibition of archival material.
The building, which in its original form consisted of two separate houses, housing the Conservation of Antiquities of the Ministry of Culture, was damaged by the 1999 earthquake and so it was restored.
In Elytis’ House on the ground floor, there will become an accurate representation of his office with his original furniture.  Also, there will be an exhibition area with the first publications, manuscripts, paintings or works of the poet that he loved, and indicative translations.
Guests will have the opportunity to hear audio documents or surveillance footage. Exhibitions of artists, whose works are associated with the poetry of Elytis will be also hosted in the building.
