Arrivals at Greek Airports Rose in June

images (1)The rise in arrivals at Greece’s main airports was 14.6 percent in June 2013 compared to June 2012. In numbers, this can be translated to 1.96 million passengers in June 2013, from 1.71 million in June 2012.
According to data published by the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE), in the first semester of 2013 arrivals at Greek airports increased by 10 percent and reached 4.35 million passengers in total.
In June 2013, international flights rose in 11 of the 13 biggest Greek airports. For example, Santorini reported a 30.6 percent annual rise. Heraklion, Crete, followed with a 21 percent rise and Rhodes with 19 percent. In Athens the rise for 2013 was lower as expected, and did not surpass 9.6 percent.
The demand for vacations in Greece has significantly increased this year after the very good prices Greek hoteliers offer to attract more tourists. The relatively quiet political situation is another reason, not forgetting that last year the beginning of the summer season was marked by two successive general elections.
