Secondary School Teachers Move to Elementary Schools

sxoleioIn order to immediately implement the mobility scheme of 12,500 employees, the newly appointed Administrative Reform Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Deputy Minister of Education, Evi Christophilopoulou, discussed with the Troika the moving of 5,000 teachers from secondary to primary education.
The project refers to a total of 8,500 teachers who are expected to be redundant, 5,000 of whom will move from Secondary to Primary Education.
These teachers are from the fields of foreign languages, arts, computer science and training courses and will teach creative courses (theater games, English, French, German, etc.) to students attending the first three grades of primary school and finish their schedule at 2 pm.
With the cooperation of the two ministries it has been estimated that the initial planning for the implementation of creative courses in the first years of primary education involving the transfer of 900 secondary school teachers, could be extended to all primary schools in the country. This would mean additional educative hours for students with theatrical play, courses and creative activities that will not burden students with extra classes and homework.
