The President of the Greek Republic, Karolos Papoulias, received a group of Greek-American students from the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), headed by Nick Larigakis, AHI President and Board Secretary, at the Presidential Mansion on July 2.
“It is very important that you have come to our small country in order to experience it, to experience our difficulties and to gain impressions that you will transfer back to your big country,” Papoulias reported, adding that ambassadors in the Ministry of Affairs are few and their contribution is important.
The President told the young students: “We did not hide our difficulties, we did not hide the fact that the weaker classes in Greece are suffering, but we fight for a better day,” as did the strong generations of their grandfathers and fathers, who managed a lot with few means.
