Giannakakis’ Joy Stands Out in Edinburgh Festival

29A01412F85C65833D2855121DFA85B6A special reference was made to the film, Joy (Hara) by Elias Giannakakis, in the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013, which was completed on June 30.

The black and white Greek movie, about a woman who steals a baby from a maternity hospital and dreams of their common life, determined even to commit murder, participated in the Festival and was honored by the jury  as “a unique portrait of  the female character and an excellent interpretation by Amalia Moutousi in the main role.”

The top prize of the International Competition of Edinburgh’s Festival went to, A World Not Ours by Mahdi Fleifel from  Lebanon. In a parallel section of the Festival, Greece was also represented by Konstantina Voulgari with the movie,  Congratulations to the Optimistic.
