perama_nafpigoepiskevastiki_534_355A father of two minor children from Kaminia, Athens, is losing his residence due to € 1,677 debt to the tax authorities. According to a report in Rizospastis, the father who is a metalworker has been  unemployed for the past three years. The amount he owes finally reached €2,173.81 because of interest and penalties.
His house is his only asset but the Tax Authorities (D’ DOY) of Piraeus decided to auction it. The confiscation process started on June 25 by a bailiff of the Court of Athens.
In fact, the amount of € 70,000  has been set as as a first offer that will probably be the starting price for any future auction.
The metalworker has not only been unemployed for three years, but as he said he also owes the house to the bank, while his family has been without power for seven months.
“The years that I’m unemployed I work for a wage wherever there is a need in order to buy some food for my family. And I work uninsured of course. We do not have any healthcare. Now they are threatening to take our house,” the man said.
About a month ago, another unemployed worker of the Naval Zone was at risk of losing his home for 746 euros debt to EYDAP.
