It’s Raining Locusts in Chios!

swarms of locustsAn impressive phenomenon has been occurring on the island of Chios since June 23, according to the website greek-weather.org.
Swarms of locusts appeared in the regions Komi, Lilika and Kallimasia. The inhabitants are concerned about the phenomenon, but there isn’t yet any official information – complaint to the relevant department of Rural Development of the Regional Unit of Chios.
Agronomists explain that locusts lay eggs continuously, their young grow very quickly and start reproducing, and in this way a chain of young locusts and eggs is created, amounting to hundreds of thousands within two months.
“If we reach this level, then the situation is irreversible with many risks for the crops and for the public health,” was noted in the article.
