Santorini Monks Fight NATO Radar

images.watchit.grThe monks of the Prophet Elias Monastery are struggling against the installation of NATO radar installations on the fabled island of Santorini.
The monks, who adjacent to the devices placed in the park right next to the monastery, which has been on the island for more than 300 years,, said they are upset that “radome” will be placed in the place of in the radar, as they say.
According to an announcement issued by the monks, the installation of a “radome” in Santorini by NATO, will turn the island into a target and that they fear health hazards.
They said that the work is going on without proper building permits and environmental impact assessments in a NATURA 2000 listed area and without permission from the Archaeological Service.
