Media Strike Over ERT’s Closure Continues

ert. After the announcement the Greek government made that it will close down the state public broadcaster ERT, which caused a wide uprising of the people in Greece and abroad, on June 13 it was unanimously decided that the 24-hour media strikes because of ERT’s shutdown will continue.
The new strike began on June 14 at 6 am. Journalists, administrative and technical staff of the television, the radio, the Internet and the print (newspapers and magazines), as well as typographers and the employees of the Athens News Agency and General Secretariat will continue participating in the strike.
All electronic media outlets that exclusively broadcast the programming of the employees of ERT are exempt from the strike.
ERT employees, along with thousands of people, are defending “The public television, information as a public good, they are defending democracy.” They encourage their colleagues and citizens to keep on gathering and showing their solidarity with ERT during the expressions of support.
