Fake Invoice Fraud in Pella and Imathia

APATI_473_355A 47-year-old Greek administrator of a company of rural cooperatives and a 58-yea- old accountant are facing criminal charges of making fake invoices using the tax data of farmers, along with a 36-year-old accomplice in the region of Edessa, Pella.
Police said that the two main suspects were using fake invoices for at least 11 years to false;y document receipts of agricultural products of economic valueof some 4.983 million euros, ($6.64 million) and that the farmers were not aware of the ruse.
Officials said that The invoices were kept in the house of the 36-year old and were submitted them to the relevant departments and they were receiving illegally, through the tax authorities, the farmers tax refunds.
The invoices were said to include the data of 357 individuals and that many were not really farmers, showing the alleged extent of the fraud.
Police are continuing the investigation, in cooperation with the competent bodies and services for the complete clarification of the case. The file of the case will be send to the the Public Prosecutor of the Misdemeanors’ Court of Veria.
