A solidarity march from leftist parties took place on the main streets of Xanthi on June 11 in support of the Turkish rebels.
The Committee of solidarity to Turkish citizens, consists of SYRIZA, ANTARSYA and KKE members, who originally gathered in the Central Square of the city, shouting support slogans in favor of the rebels of the neighboring country, who have been strongly protesting for the past few weeks, distributing at the same time information material to passers-by.
A march followed with protesters holding flags and banners written both in Turkish and Greek, while shouting slogans on the streets of Xanthi. The march ended at the Central Square.
Within the past few days, more and more citizens of Xanthi seem to be supporting the Turkish demonstrators, while solidarity slogans have been displayed on the town clock and a banner has been posted as well outside the former building of the Bank of Greece.
