French TV Shows Off Zagorochoria

ZachorochoriaThese days a TV crew from France visited the region of Zagori in order to produce a film on the beauties of the area.
The crew used a helicopter to make it possible for the French audience to get an idea of the wild beauty of Mount Tymfi. The helicopter also flew above Vikos Gorge and Aoos Gorge, as well as above Mount Tymfi’s highest peaks, Gamila and Astraka.
The show gave a key promotional effort for local tourism and the promotion of the Zagori region to many viewers. The members of the crew expressed their enthusiasm for the beauties of Epirus, while during their stay in hostels in Papigos and Tsepelovos, they had the chance to taste Epirus’s famous pies and local raki.
Zagori is a region and a municipality in the Pindus Mountains in Epirus, in northwestern Greece. The seat of the municipality is the village Asprangeloi. It has an area of some 1,000 square kilometers and contains 45 villages known as Zagoria (or Zagorochoria), in the shape of an upturned equilateral triangle.
The southern corner of the triangle contains the provincial capital, Ioannina, the south-western side is formed by Mount Mitsikeli ,and the Aoos river and Mount Tymfi constitute the northern side, and the south-eastern side runs along the Varda river to Mount Mavrovouni near Metsovo.
