Modern Greek Online by Australian University

griffithStudents of the Griffith University in Brisbane, will soon have the opportunity to benefit from the Modern Greek courses beginning in 2014 via the Internet.

After a series of efforts and negotiations between the Greek community and the University of Griffith, new courses in Greek were eventually funded by the Greek government and the state of South Australia.

For the materialization of these courses there has already been formed a working group consisting of senior members of the Greek community, the Director of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Griffith, Professor Cliff Goddard and Professor Michael Tsianikas from the Department of Language Studies, of the University of Flinders.

The group was able to come to an agreement with the Flinders University and establish a specialized direction of Modern Greek in the undergraduate curriculum of art, language and linguistics.

Meanwhile, the Greek community has already established its own foundation to promote Modern Greek and provide six scholarships annually.
