“The vote of Diaspora Greeks in the Greek national elections should be consolidated, but in a way that ensures the unadulterated inflection of the political relations in Greece.”
This is what the leader of Greece’s major opposition party, the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA,) Alexis Tsipras highlights, in an interview with the Greek newspaper in Sydney Ellinon Logos.
He added that, “In such a direction, we would see the creation of separate constituencies abroad, where the equal political intervention of all parties will be ensured.”
Tsipras said that, “In order for Greece to be able to get rid of the Memorandum and walk a new road, it needs the support and sympathy of the Diaspora Greeks in all over the world,” referring to a deal Greece has signed with international lenders for $325 billion in two bailouts, but which came with attached austerity measures his party opposes.
