The 8th Annual South East European Film Festival (SEEFest) wrapped up at Los Angeles’ UCLA Bridges Theater on Monday, May 6, and Greek films were a dominant presence at the awards ceremony.

The festival took place over five days and 40 films were screened for a diverse audience. At the awards presentation on Monday night, Greek filmmaker Adrianos Georgantas received Honorable Mention for his anarchist romance set in Athens, “Dogs, Cats & Rats.” The film also won a cinematography award for Nikos Voulgaris. The other cinematography award went to Laurent Fénart and Giorgos Giannelis for their work on the documentary “Mustafa’s Sweet Dreams,” a Greek production about a boy who has hopes of becoming a baklava pastry master.

About SEEFest: The South East European Film Festival presents cinematic and cultural diversity of South East Europe to American audiences and creates cultural connections through films, artistic and social events. The Festival’s signature event is the annual five-day film festival in early May, a celebration of cinematic achievements from 15 countries of South East Europe, showing films that tell a larger story about South East Europe to American audiences.
