For one more year Araxos Airport is expected to receive thousands of Russian visitors who wish to spend their holidays near the beaches of the Elis or Ilia region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula.
According to local media, three foreign airline companies and one Greek have scheduled charter flights from Moscow and Saint Petersburg to Araxos Airport, which is located near Araxos cape, in the Achaea Prefecture, Peloponnese.
The general rise in the number of tourists from Russia appears to be beneficial not only to the region of Macedonia in northern Greece, but also to the region of Elis with its natural beauty, which, if properly exploited, can attract many tourists.
