Samaras Seeks Business From China Trip

AytokinitoSamarasGreek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will take an entourage of nearly 50 business leaders and privatization officials on a trip to China later this month, hoping to woo more investments and raise China’s stake in Greece.
The newspaper Kathimerini said that officials from the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund’s (HRADF) will present to Chinese officials the public property that the fund is trying to sell. The aim is to attract Chinese interest in airports as well as sea ports. “In this case, the possibilities for synergies would increase,” said a Greek government official who didn’t want to be named.
Samaras hopes to seal some deals in the tourism and agricultural sectors as well. He is due to arrive in Beijing on May 15 and meet the following day with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang before talks on May 17 with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During his trip, which is to end on May 19, Samaras is also planning to visit the industrial city of Hangzhou, in China’s eastern Zhejiang province, to meet with entrepreneurs. Samaras is also trying to line up a meeting with US President Barack Obama next month and visit Israel as well.
