Earthquakes Shake Chania and Aigio

seismografos2_532_355Chania and the western Greek community of Aigio were shaken by two earthquakes almost at the same time on April 28. The first one occurred at 7:37 a.m. with a Richter magnitude of 3.5 and the second came 12 minutes later at 4.5 Richter. The first alarmed residents of Chania, many awakened early on a Sunday morning by the shaking.
According to the Institute of Geodynamics, National Observatory of Athens, the earthquake occurred 133 kilometers west of Athens while the epicenter was located at the sea area 13 kilometers east of Aigio.
